介绍一下英国Cranfield University 和石油相关的专业
Department of Offshore, Process & Energy Engineering

先说说学校：

克兰菲尔德Cranfield University是英国唯一一所仅开设研究生课程的大学。它在科技和工商管理专业领 域的研究出类拔萃。凭借其世界级的教学科研、一流的现代设施以及与工商企业，尤其是国防业的良好合作关系而享誉全球。其专业领域包括航空航天，汽 车和汽车运动，国防，卫生，制造，环境，水资源和管理等。

大家对这所学校可能比较陌生。因为学校只招收研究生以上学生，不招收本科生，因此不参加英国大学的排名. 但克兰菲尔德大学是一所十分具有特色的国际性大学。学生人数少，课程很严，标准极高。

近年来，因中航工业输送了大批民用飞机和发动机研发人才来这里学习，校园里不乏中国面孔。

再谈谈专业：
Department of Offshore, Process & Energy Engineering （海洋，过程&能源系？）不知道这个翻译贴不贴切。

系里的研究着重于石油&天然气以及可再生能源的应用。适合化工，石油储运，海洋石油及机械专业的同学申请。

系里有两个小组：
Offshore Renewable Energy Group 专业涵盖Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy and Biofuels.
Professor Feargal Brennan 是系头及组头。组里有8，9个博士生，授课型研究生（不清楚，因为硕士集中去上课liao），研究方向请参考网站。

Process Systems Engineering Group 研究方向涵 盖 multiphase flow research and flow metering, process modelling, simulation, control and optimisation
具体如下：
•Flow Measurement
•Multiphase Flows and Oil and Gas Technology
•Fluid Engineering
•Process Modelling, Simulation, Optimisation and Design
•Advanced Process Control
•Energy System Design & Operation

拥有multiphase flow laboratory及多套小，中，大型实验装备。

1.系头是 Prof Hoi Yeung，手底下的项目不少，尤其近年来与BP， Chevron，TOTAL打的火热。现在在实验室干活的博士生约10+名。任务比较重，而且公司也催得紧。加班加点是常事。所以想申请的同学，也得属于‘任劳任怨’型。
2.Dr Yi Cao , Senior Lecturer，系统控制及优化方面的专家。 近年来接手了不少slug control的项目， field上的应用反响不错。
3.Mr Paul Fairhurst，Senior Lecturer， 从BP过来的 Flow assurance专家。刚进组不久。
4.Dr Meihong Wang，近年偏重于Carbon Carbon and Storage (CCS)，Refinery Planning and Scheduling， 做了不少系统模拟方面的项目。
5.还有做多相流测量的Dr Tinghu Yan。接手Professor Mike Sanderson 的项目。
6.Dr Ossama M Badr 做energy and thermal systems, renewable-energy utilisation, technical and economic assessment of energy-policy options, and atmospheric pollution 。题外话，Dr Ossama极极严格，严肃的老师。

硕士课程1年，学费属于英国工程类中较高等级（不知道现在是16000还是涨到18000了），优秀的学生可以申请到组里或系里的部分奖学金。生活费大概8500磅/年。具体情况可咨询教务秘书Miss Kirsty Baker。

Oversea博士全额奖学金还是比较难申请的（英国普遍情况）， 但是也不乏成功的申请。如果是本系毕业的优秀硕士生，还是比较有优势的。博士的情况可咨询Mrs Sam Skears。

这几届的博士毕业生找工作的情况也还不错， 有进工程设计公司和 BP的。硕士入学时间，每年的9月底。 博士时间不限，具体与导师商量。

鉴于现在英国PSW将于2012年4月取消，比较不利于硕士生。大大减少了在英国积攒工作经验的机会。

在英国的地位跟国防科技大学在国内地位差不多，今年我联系了其中一位老师，可惜没有position了，由于在ME系下面，我也没有继续再联系其他老师

2012增加了Flow Assurance 硕士课程：


New Flow Assurance MSc due to start in October 2012:

Flow Assurance has emerged as a major discipline in the oil and gas industry and covers methods that ensure the safe and efficient delivery of hydrocarbons form the well to the collection facilities. The technology is not however limited to the oil and gas industry, but can be applied to other industries involved in the transportation of single and multiphase flows. Flow assurance is a multidisciplinary subject involving skills in thermo-hydraulics, production chemistry, process engineering, materials science and mechanical engineering. Most Flow Assurance Engineers learn their trade on the job and until now there has been no formal academic course or qualification in this multidisciplinary topic.

The new MSc course will be consist of compulsory and optional modules shared with the existing and well established MSC in Process Systems Engineering, and will include three new compulsory modules: PSE 22 “Introduction to Flow Assurance, PSE 23 “Multiphase Flows”, and PSE 24 ”Production Technology and Chemistry. The course will include teaching, assignments, group projects, laboratory demonstrations and hands-on use of design software with training.

May I add that FA specialist has bright future in offshore/deepwater careers. Other than production performance, FA also work in the HSE area. Other than PE, RE, ChE majors, I encountered FA who were chemistry, physics, ME or CE majors.
