WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY

Using your logics, why not look for school in North Dakota http://www.eerc.und.nodak.edu/. The state has the lowest unemployment rate <2.0%. Any warm body is snatched up working in the resource play. UND has a special program to train people who wants to be oil workers. http://engineering.u.../affiliates.cfm Some town population jump 350% overnight with the oil workers. http://www.npr.org/2...ks-north-dakota
However, if your life goal is just study for work, you are one sorry individual. Life is more than work.I hope your life goal is more than work.
BTW, have you ask yourself,
why you want to work and
working for what.
When you find the answers, then find an education to help your preparation. Don't limit yourself to be a worker ant. you are better than that.
Thanks!Ytlee, Actually, I totally agree with your idea---Life is short and people should take their precious time to do what they really like to do, not only work for money.
Although our department has a relatively strong shale gas-oriented graduate program, my phd research is all about the geological evolution of Tibet---- unfortunately, not that 'oily'. But I do enjoy my research a lot. Anyway, I get opportunities to go to one of the most beautiful regions -- Qamdo(昌都)in eastern Tibet every summer doing my field works, and get access to two state of art labs, one at West Virginia U. and another at U. of Arizona.
But sometimes, I do feel frustrated when I try to communicate with some of my friends who are 'petroleum guys',especially people study petroleum engineering (I graduate from Petroleum University so lots of my friends are Petroleum Geology or PE major). Generally, the messages I got from them are ---What the hell are you doing? Why study something that has nothing to do with petroleum. So, it makes me fell that--if something are not petroleum/natural gas related(actually, they all mean MONEY$$$), they are not worth doing/studying. I bet this thought is very popular among our forum members.
I am an friendly person. I don't like to argue with people on their opinion. So, I present what people like to read. Shale gas is a big deal in U.S. today. Everyone likes it and loves to talk about it. And I tend to believe that in order to let people to think about the true meaning of their lives, they have to have some money in their pockets first.
--just some of my immature thoughts
