正在看月光版主的新手入门的长贴，其中提到新手应该先从office入手，把ECLISPE OFFICE的安装练习做完。
但是我想问这个安装练习在哪呢？去哪看一步一步的操作示范呢？

请大家帮帮忙，谢谢。

我也是新手，刚开始做的时候不知道从哪下手。我这有一个eclipse office的教学视频，你可以按照这个做几遍练习。eclipse有自带的练习题，例如ecl安装在c盘，那么office的练习题在C:\ecl\2006.1\office\tutorials下面。
视频我放在附件里了，共同学习，共同进步哈！

To anyone who are learning ECL on their own:

Learning ECL on their own or using torials from the web is a fatal mistake.It is like a 2 year running with a shape knife. You are bounded to get hurted.


ECL or other commercial simulators are for working experienced professionals whose interests and requirements are different. All commercials simulators stuff all kind of short cuts targeting special usages. Unless you knew what they are for and based on what conditions and assumptions, you are bounded to mis-use them. A good example is relaxing the tolerance to get a report which can be completely useless. The correct way is to check the data parameters to ensure a stable IC and realistic BC. Another pitfall for tutorials from the web, I have yet to see one that really teach good reservoir simulation fundamental. like how to Q/C or how to conduct a fluid simulation. Those are critical steps. It requires years of actual practice to get into good working habits.


If you are interested in earning reservoir simulation, learn what is simulation first. Take a course and start with simplier simulator like BOAST or other academic simulator that follows simulation principal. when you become an oil field worker, then spend time in the field, get to know reservoir techniques and practise especial data collection and interpretation, after you have a good understanding of the reservoir management and development, then you can dip your toes into reservoir simulation hopefully under a mentor. By then, you will have the reservoir simulation foundamental and wisdom to avoid the pitfall of commercial simulators like ECL or CMG.

Believe it or nor, simulation, like computer programing, is more an art than science. Your feel for the reservoir is more critical than the fancy output. So unless you have good understanding of thereservoir, all pretty graphs and plots from fancy simulator don't stack up more than a bucket of warm spit.

入门确实比较难，不过硬着头皮看，慢慢的就会了。有的资料可以多看两遍，当时不明白的，再看的时候就明白了

This is THE reason I have strong objection to my classmate who is a professor in China. When the foundation is weak, the building on top is dangerous. When the training is not correct, 学壞手 is the only outcome. When the 壞慣性 set in, it will take much longer time to get rid. Many young chinese recent hired were let go because they can't kick their bad habit.

其实我更悲剧~明明有个数模很牛B的老板。但是人家根本没时间教你，一切都还是只有靠自己，哪怕是带我入下门也好吧。
跟着做项目也总是只是做些资料整理，油藏动态分析工作。
一直想学数模，现在也只有自己慢慢的看ECL手册，我想，慢慢的磨着，总会一点点的学会的。

ECL手册 is not a simulation training manual. It is THE lousy way to learn ECL.

If you can, ask your boss to sign you up for SLB training classes or get an ID to the SLB support portal. http://support.slb.com/, There are examples, workflows, procedures, solutions, and discussion groups. If you are a legit user, you are entitled to the portal.

If you can't do either one, start your training with a good simulation text book, get DOE BOAST to work out the text book questions,work yourself up to build a good foundation for reservoir simulation. If you are gift in math and programming, learn how to modify BOAST to tackle tropics that can't be done with IMPRES. Only when you are able to tackle all kind of reservoir simulation issues with BOAST, then you can dip your toe to ECL or CMG. By then, you will be protected from the harmful options lurking inside ECL or CMG. With the knowledge of BOAST, you will pick up ECL or CMG in no time.

PS 资料整理，油藏动态分析工作 are the foundation for simulation, learn them well and you will avoid 99.9% of the questions asked in this forum and other chinese PE forums.
