Shale gas is a subclass of tight gas. The unique feature of shale gas is large gas-in-place, massive play thickness and/or extension. Therefore the frac program has to tailor to meet these challenges. In short, the most economical program to inject massive amount of propants for max extension.

There is no cookie cutter approach/procedure. Every resource play is unique, you have to do your homework developing the frac formula and procedure. The make-up of the frac fluid is a close-guarded trade secret. I don't think you can just read it from a paper and apply it to your field.
