It does not make any sense to me, not at all.

Originaly I use the term skip over but I felt skip over is too strong, so i used overlook.

In US,it is fact of life that many universities — public and private alike — give special treatment to the kids of big donors.

That paper is talking about the donation to Chinese universities, that is a whole another issue. Chinese alumni do not necessarily donate less to US universities after they graduate. Moreover, I don't think professors would recruit research assistants based on who donate more. They only care whoever is able to conduct the research and get good results. The special treatment is true for undergraduate admission, but no for graduate.

In the eye of adminstrator, grad and undergrade is the same, number of person attending the school. If the professor don't pay favorism, why they spend time with alumni.

BTW, The number of invitation jumped by magnitude of 2 after I donate thru my company.If I attend all the invitations from Rice & TAMU, I could be a full time party goer and could have free meal everyday.

btw, the paper is about raising endowment. Have you get the point why chinese are behind. If you are interested in further reading, Yale has a white paper regarding how to approach chinese alumni. Yale received lion share of the chinese donations.

Now you are jumping from accredit system to donation.

The big donation that Yale got just proved Chinese students are willing to donate.

Whatever you say, if you think Chinese education system is shit or Chinese students are shit or Chinese applicant are/should be overlooked, I just couldn't agree with you. And the evidence you listed failed to prove your point.

你这话说的太过分了吧。 国内的情况你懂啥。不懂就不要乱说。
国内的高考招生还是很透明，算公正的了，没有那么多“关系”在里面。
也算是农村底层的学生上升的途径。

Just because I did not study in China doesn't mean I know nothing about china education system. I have few school mates and relatives teach in china universities. I make routine stops in china when I visit them and gave few talks (computer animation and embedded system) in the university. Thru the communications from this forum and other chinese forums, I got many solicitions, some crossed the line. Anyway, if you are what you said. You should know that I'm not too far off.
