Thank you intersting in GGRE (Geology, Geophysics and Reservoir Engineering ) students in China.Your concern is about my worries.GGRE students employment have begun to decline since last year. I have been opposed to enroll so many students. But the school is very stubborn.All oil-related universities are very stubborn.They think the market is the employment of the baton.Since 2000 the employment situation is very good.A student can get quite a few job opportunities.

The mass number of students indeed is a troubling sign. The quality of the student, the attention of the professors and the education, the career development , the job opportunities are all tied to this number game. From the few posts in this forum, I sensed the students are after the "hot" "bull" jobs rather than the fields they have passions. Sometimes, I feel they are running into their own traps without knowing it. Those are in for the money, unfortunately push out those who are passionate about the oilfield development This current crisis, which is a hardship to many, is a reminder of the career hazzard and the critical role of an oilfield worker.

In fact ,undergraduates is difficult to oilfield employment research Institute employment .Most of them work in field，seismic crews，oil production plant，Well-drilling team .These work were done by skilled workers before .Very strange, the students are also very pleased.After all, these companies are the world's top 500.

The beginning of last year GGRE the employment situation is not optimistic.This year's employment situation will be very grim.I estimate that there will be 50% of GGRE students can not find a job in the oilfields.

I am also very anxious.I think that the GGRE enrollments should be reduced more than half of.

I'm sorry to say, seismic crews，oil production plant，well-drilling team are technician positions, A trade schools can do a better job than universities. A trade school can free their students from the subjects, like history, economics, etc that are not directly related to oilfield operations and concentrate on the subjects that the techician must master before going to the field.

I understand and I don't fault you for that. It is the education system that failed. I had tried to discourage those don't belong in GGRe to switch career and I must admire that my result is mixed.

各位同仁，ytlee身在海外十分关心国内的石油教育现状，我们大家要向他表示感谢！希望大家就这个议题多讨论！

石油教育本科学生扩招既有市场的需要，也有客观情况，也有局部利益的需要。现在国内的石油类技工学校几乎销声匿迹了，也没有专门的石油方面的职业技术教育学院。石油类的中专学校也只有“石油物探”学校一所了（在河北涿州，属于BGP），石油类的职工大学也销声匿迹了；石油类的专科学校只剩下承德石油高等专科学校了，原重庆石油高等专科学校也改名“重庆科技学院”（升格本科）了。所以各类石油公司只招收本科，甚至研究生了，这是事实。本科生做技术类的工作有利有弊，现在不要议论，等历史评判吧！从去年的就业形势来看，石油类的本科招生要缩减了，企业和学校不能再考虑局部利益了。

以上纯属个人观点，不代表任何组织和单位意见！
